Michael Rasmussen

United Atlantic Legal Services was founded by Michael Rasmussen in 2020. Michael has provided legal and compliance consulting services to investment advisers, private fund managers, and broker-dealers through his own firm and two major compliance consulting firms since 2014. Michael has also served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for several established investment advisory firms (each with more than $1 billion in AUM). During his consulting career, Michael has guided the creation and registration of over 100 registered investment advisory firms (both at the state and SEC levels) and has provided ongoing legal and compliance services to many more investment advisory firms, including private fund managers. He began his career in the securities industry as a regulator with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Michael graduated from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law and is a licensed attorney in Florida and a registered solicitor in the United Kingdom. He has passed the FINRA Series 7, 24, 63 and 65 examinations. Michael is also the founder of FinProLaw a legal and compliance learning platform where he has created and taught many industry courses including:

When he’s not serving his clients, Michael enjoys spending time outdoors in the beautiful South Florida sunshine. Michael is an avid (but slow) long-distance runner, and he also enjoys quiet time with a good chess game or a compelling book. In addition, he is an active English tutor with, and sits on the Education Committee for the National Society of Compliance Professionals.
